Home / What is Flock / Flocking Process

  • Step 1

At Banbury Flocking Services the first part of the process is to clean the parts to be flocked.

  • Step 2

Any repairs can be carried out prior to flocking the dashboard or any item, so if you have holes, cracks or marks you don’t want we can do this for you before flocking, so when we flock over the repair you will not know it was ever there, you will have a seamless flocked finish.

  • Step 3

After any repairs have been carried out the parts are cleaned again and degreased prior to the flocking process.

  • Step 4

Banbury Flocking Services then applies the two pack adhesive by spraying the substrate to be flocked.

Banbury Flocking Services ensures that the flock will go were the glue is so if there is any masking up to be done we need to know about it prior to the flocking process.

  • Step 5

With the help of an electrostatic gun flock fibres are then charged electrostatically up to 85000 volts which causes the individual fibres to penetrate “end on” into the adhesive which is still wet.

The parts are then left to air dry and finally any surplus and loose flock are removed.

  • Step 6

The method of production guarantees’ the durability for which all Banbury Flocking Services products are known. Flock can be applied to practically any substrate NON porous surfaces.
